Lisa Shine

A native of Maryland, Lisa Shine grew up spending weekends with her family at the amazing cultural institutions in and around Washington, D.C., which helped spark and foster an interest in art.  From the time she could hold a pencil in her hand she was drawing on all available surfaces.  Though having earned a degree in Corporate Finance and working in the banking industry, art was always part of her world.

Throughout a banking career, Shine studied art on the side at UCLA, Otis College of Art & Design and other art institutions.  Shine participated in numerous group shows and juried competitions such as the San Diego Institute of Art-Museum of the Living Artist in Balboa Park and currently the AAUW Utah Women Artists Show 2022.  Her still life paintings have won awards at juried competitions including the National Orange Show in San Bernardino California.

Oil painting was her focus, but she has become an enthusiast of, and has shifted more of her time to, encaustic painting.  She still enjoys oil, water color, pencil, collage and other mediums.

Saturated color, shadow, light and line inform and impact her work.  Her goal is to create beautiful and interesting images that encourage contemplative and appreciative responses from the viewer.  Always striving to expand artistic knowledge, she continues to learn through travel, workshops and from the wealth of amazing and talented artists in Utah, around the US and abroad. Lisa and her family moved to Park City, Utah in 2012.  At Studio Create in Park City, Shine shares studio space with several talented artists.
