Salt Lake City
January 25 – March 8, 2025
Explore the intersection of textiles and sound in LFO, a collaborative installation by Utah-based artists Mary Toscano and Andrew Rease Shaw. This immersive exhibition combines intricate handmade quilts with evocative soundscapes, offering a multisensory experience that bridges tradition and innovation.
The installation draws parallels between the geometric patterns of quilting and the technical structures of sound synthesis, such as sine and sawtooth waves, creating a harmonious dialogue between visual and auditory art forms. In addition to the installation, LFO features eight letterpress prints and two assemblages that reinterpret traditional quilt block patterns, further blending textile art and sound design.
