Josh Scheuerman Employs the Utah Landscape to Represent a “Transitional State”

Now in its third year, Midvale City’s Los Muros on Main continues to expand, bringing in artists from across the United States, as well as two from Canada. Josh Scheuerman represents the local scene for this year’s festival.

Painted on the side of Utah Partners for Health ( 7651 South Main Street), Scheuerman’s mural showcases the dramatic shift from the red desert landscapes of southern Utah to the snow-capped peaks of northern Utah. He calls the work “Transitional State,” referencing, according to the artist, a state “of emotional and personal growth, but also the changing of the seasons and the inherent time we have as we evolve and grow. The southern desert to the white caped peaks of northern Utah, the transition is in us all.”

Josh Scheuerman is a talented painter, graphic designer, and photographer originally from West Valley City. He is known for using his artistic talents to promote community and environmental activism. Scheuerman’s creative journey has taken him across the globe. In the fall of 2021, he was voted Best Muralist by the community in Salt Lake City Weekly’s 2021 Readers Choice Awards, a testament to his impact and popularity in the local arts scene.
