Darkness Against the Glittering Sky presents a solo exhibition of drawings by Taiwan-born, New York City-based artist Fay Ku. The exhibition showcases a range of works spanning several years, highlighting Ku’s intricate drawing techniques and exploration of cultural, sexual, and political identities. Her works, inspired by East Asian art traditions, delve into human behavior, power dynamics, and societal tensions, often featuring women and children in complex, layered scenes.
Ku’s process incorporates diverse materials such as traditional Asian papers, translucent drafting film, collage, and embroidery, creating detailed and psychologically rich worlds. Darkness Against the Glittering Sky offers Utah audiences a unique chance to engage with Ku’s distinctive perspective, developed through her experiences as a woman and immigrant navigating multiple cultural identities.
