Fahimeh Amiri

Reaching for Liberty by Fahimeh Amiri

Fahimeh Amiri is an accomplished artist born in Tehran, Iran, whose career began as an apprentice to renowned Persian miniaturist Professor Hossein Behzad. After earning national recognition in Iran for her achievements in fine art, Fahimeh moved to the United States in 1973, where she graduated from Tufts University and the Boston School of the Museum of Fine Arts.

Her work spans Persian miniatures, graphic design, and children’s literature, with notable books including Babri (1994), The Monkey Bridge (1997), and The Prince Who Ran Away (2001). Since settling in Utah, Fahimeh has gained acclaim for her Persian miniatures, which often explore themes of Iranian women in Islam. Her work has been widely exhibited, including at the Springville Museum of Art, where it has been featured in annual juried exhibitions since 2014, as well as at the National Arts Club in New York.

Her accolades include the Utah Governor’s Arts Award (2018) and the Merit Award (2020), with works acquired by the Alice Merrill Horne Art Collection and the Springville Museum of Art.
