Eli Kerns (b. 1994) is a Provo-based artist and MFA candidate at Brigham Young University, set to graduate in April 2026. Originally from eastern Oregon, Eli’s upbringing in the forests fostered a deep connection with the natural world, which remains central to his work. Drawing inspiration from the Wasatch Mountains and his outdoor experiences, Eli explores themes of cycles, time, memory, and place.
Using Japanese paper, ink, wax, and wood, Eli creates layered, transparent compositions that unify multiple images into one, offering an omniscient perspective while hinting at the passage of time and loss.
