Cassie Dee Oveson uses a variety of techniques to create her vibrant, energetic paintings in fluid acrylic: brushes, knives, fingers and even her breath spread the paint across the canvas as she allows the flow of the paint to guide her. The outcome is meant to be subjective and open to interpretation, but she says that to her this piece on exhibit at 35×35 represents how it feels to create. “The burst of inspiration, and the flow of energy we feel during that sacred time spent working on a project,” she says. “What that time does to expand our perspective and what that expanded view can do to transform and color a life.”
Oveson is a self-taught artist. She began painting at night after work as a way to deal with a bout of depression. After he life became filled with the color from her canvases she embraced the energy from creating and hasn’t looked back.
