Alexa Harding was born and raised in Utah County. She graduated from Southern Utah University with a Bachelors in Fine Art with an emphasis in Ceramic Sculpture.
Artist Statement
My work is informed by my personal experience living amidst 2 contrasting cultures—a conservative community culture that focused on traditional values and perfectionism, and a home life that was dysfunctional and often neglectful. Stylistically, my work is inspired by the Surrealism movement; artwork driven from the subconscious. With my own psychoanalysis, I use images of embryos, sunflowers, mushrooms, abstracted figures and surreal motifs throughout my artwork to convey the delicate, confusing balance of Nature vs Nurture.
