239 South Main: Gallivan Center

From several hundred Day Christiansen chose several dozen children’s drawings to be transformed, with the help of the Metal Arts Foundry in Lehi, UT, into the “Wildlife Wall,” now inside Gallivan hall in Downtown Salt Lake City. These colored bronze plaques are each unique and original and are each a child’s perspective of wildlife in Utah. Wildlife is a fundamental aspect of life of this state. “Wildlife Wall” incorporates the viewpoint of many children to be seen in bright tones of turquoise contrasted with bronze and other colors to be viewed from the heart of Downtown Salt Lake City. This brings the wild together with the cultured atmosphere of the Gallivan Center through the uncharted imagination of a child using Christiansen’s vision. It is a marvelous synthesis.
