35x35 Awards
On Friday, September 16, at the Artists of Utah 35×35 Awards Reception and 15-year anniversary celebration at Finch Lane Gallery, Executive Director Shawn Rossiter presented the awards for the 35×35 exhibition.
For the juror awards, Artists of Utah invited three arts professionals from the Utah community to peruse the exhibition and choose their favorite pieces.
THE JURORS AWARDS ARE:
Tatiana Svrckova Larsen's sound installation "Subsistence"
Rebecca Hansen's photograph "RITA"
James Hadley's artist book "Antecedent"
In addition, the jurors presented Merit Awards to Wren Ross and Lydia Gravis.
Artists of Utah’s Board of Directors also selected a work from the show to honor, and invited the artist to serve on the board until the next 35×35 exhibition in 2020.
The BOARD OF DIRECTOR'S AWARD was given to:
Allison Leialoha Milham's installation "Famous Are The Flowers (Kaulana Na Pua)"
During the run of the 35×35 exhibition, patrons were invited to vote on their favorite piece in the show.
THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARD GOES TO:
Jacqueline Secor's grid of paintings, "The Diversity of Nature"
35x35 is Artists of Utah's showcase of the young generation of Utah artists. The exhibit comes around every three and a half years and features thirty-five artists, thirty-five years old or younger.

Shalee Cooper is a freelance photographer, curator and educator. She is the Gallery Director at Modern West Fine Art. |
Amy Falls holds a BFA in modern dance from the University of Utah and works as an independent dancer and choreographer in Salt Lake City. |
Hannah McBeth studied art history, classics, and Mediterranean archaeology before getting a master's at Cambridge University. She enjoys writing, hiking, and traveling to far-off places. Follow her on Twitter @hannahmcbee. |
Ann Poore is a freelance writer and editor who spent most of her career at The Salt Lake Tribune. She also worked for City Weekly and has written for such publications as Utah Business and Salt Lake magazines. |
Nathan Robison is a librarian and writer. He lives in Provo, Utah with his wife, two children, and many animals. |
Shawn Rossiter, a native of Boston, was raised on the East Coast. He has degrees in English, French and Italian literature. A professional artist and writer, he founded Artists of Utah in 2001 and is editor of its magazine, 15 Bytes. |
Geoff Wichert has degrees in critical writing and creative nonfiction. He writes about art to settle the arguments going on in his head. |
Erica Womack is a Salt Lake based choreographer. She teaches at SLCC and regularly contributes to loveDANCEmore. |
