UTAH COUNTY
Springville Museum of Art UP: 89th Annual Spring Salon. Through July 7. AND: Expressions: A Walter Rane Retrospective. This exhibition will explore some of Rane's favorite religious works, as well as lesser-known genres of his remarkable career as a painter and illustrator. Through December 1. UPCOMING: 40th Annual Quilt Show, a juried exhibition featuring quilts of various styles and designs, both traditional and contemporary.|1| July 17 - September 4. AND: Voices: People, Places and Things curates images of individuals from different time periods and social or economic backgrounds as they pursue varied interests and engage in different life experiences; grand landscapes, towering buildings and intimate everyday spaces; and a blend of artistic responses that stimulate the mind and the imagination. Opens July 10. Continues through June 2016.
Brigham Young University Museum of Art UP: Work to Do: 4 Women Artists Living in Utah features work by Trent Alvey, Pam Bowman, Jann Haworth, Amy Jorgensen (read our review in the June 2013 edition of 15 Bytes).|2| Through September 28. AND: Edward Burtynsky: The Industrial Sublime. A collection of Edward Burtynsky’s photographs of industrial spaces – from factories in China to mines in Canada – displaying what Burtynsky calls “the beauty in the beast.”|3| Through November 16. AND: e.g.: Brian Patterson combines the gestures of painting with video to explore the beauty of daily processes. Through August 24. AND: People in a Hard Land: Iconic Images of Life in the Southwest focuses on iconic images of people in the American Southwest: pioneers, cowboys, and Indians moving across a vast uninhabited landscape;
men and women engaged in the hard labor of taming a wild land. Through December 28. AND: michael whiting: 8-bit modern, in the Museum's Sculpture Garden, features brightly painted, massive, pixilated sculptures exploring the visual relationship between early video games and 1960s minimalism. Through September 6.

St. George Art Museum UP: Windows to Heaven: Treasures from the Museum of Russian Icons brings together twenty-four historically significant works from the Massachusetts museum's collection, dating from 1590 AD to present day. |5| Through August 10. Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery UP: Work by artists from across southern Utah will be featured in the Invitational Exhibit. Artwork available for sale ranges in media including watercolor, ceramics and oil. Through August 25 AND: The Psychedelic Years: Rock Posters from the San Francisco Bay Area, 1966-1971. Through August 25.
Cedar City Public Library in the Park UP: Art sparks creativity within young minds. When SUU’s SUMA Community Engagement Committee and local educators asked Iron County students to create Dear SUMA Post Cards depicting their idea of beauty, the result is a colorful collage. Through July 27.
