SANPETE COUNTY
CUAC UP: Pooneh Maghazehe & Skye Steele. Through February 4. AND: Cartridge/Ctrl, works by Daniel Everett & Allan Ludwig. Through February 4. UPCOMING: Whitman and Associates features new work from Salt Lake-based artist Jeff Larsen that focuses on his native landscape, the Salt Lake Valley and surrounding areas, as a utopian project.|0| The artist searches for areas he refers to as “ruptures” in the city; spaces that are undefined, marginal and liminal, a new sort of wilderness, created at the seams of Utopian objectives. Opens February 11, 6-9pm. AND: Caméra Vivant, presented by AD Projects, highlights the works of eight contemporary artists working in photography, video, and installation.|1|
The title refers to the group's term, inspired by the tableau vivant, for non- documentary camera-based artwork that both captures a performative act and is created with the intention of being seen by an audience as a video or photograph. Opens February 11, 6-9pm. AND: In the CUAC Annex, Provo artist Bryan Hutchison's Phantom Building Project, an exploration on how the personal concept of home evolves as physical surroundings undergo change.|2| Opens February 11, 6-9pm.
Snow College Art Gallery UP: Y Sculpture, new works by Brigham Young University sculpture faculty, graduate and undergraduate students. Through February 11. UPCOMING: Dale Peel, new paintings by local artist Dale Peel. February 16 - March 18.
UTAH COUNTY
Brigham Young University Museum of Art UP: Wide-Open Spaces: Capturing the Grandeur of the American Southwest, an exhibition that explores the artistic innovations in color, composition and technique developed by 20th-century artists to capture the grandeur of the region. Through March 10. AND: Carl Bloch: The Master's Hand, an exhibit of five large altar paintings by Lutheran Danish artist Carl Heinrich Bloch (1834 – 1890).|3| (see our January edition).Through May 7. AND: Dorothea Lange’s Three Mormon Towns features 62 vintage prints of Lange’s photographs from the series she shot in 1953 with Ansel Adams for a Life magazine feature that appeared in September 1954. These works, 21 from the museum's collection, come from the hundreds of photographs taken of the people of Toquerville, Gunlock and St. George.|4| Through Saturday, April 30. UPCOMING: At War!: The Changing Face of American War Illustration, consistS of nearly 70 works of art, including posters, paintings, comic strips, editorial cartoons, animation and video and examines the similarities and differences of both the medium and message of American war imagery from 1913 to 2003. It will also explore three themes that have remained constant in wartime illustrations throughout the 20th century: fear, duty and nostalgia.|5|

Utah County Art Gallery UP: BYU Illustrator's Showcase. Throughh February 25, with an artist's reception February 4, 6-9pm.
Springville Museum of Art UPCOMING: The 39th Annual Utah All-State High School Art Show honors the best high school artists in the state for their talent, creativity, and dedication. February 24-March 25.
Woodbury Art Museum UP: Hidden Voices, an exhibition showcasing the talents of Utah County youth artists. The 2011 focus is on graffiti art as a form of expression and includes large-scale canvases of graffiti pieces.
The participating artists have participated in an ongoing mentoring program that have developed their artistic and professional skills. Two students will be selected for scholarships to attend UVU. Through March 5.
ST. GEORGE AREA
On Friday, December 10th, fine art galleries will stay open late for the annual Winter Gallery Walk.
St. George Art Museum UP: Into the Mysteries of the Super Real, hyper-real still life paintings by Charles Becker. Becker continues the tradition of 17th and 18th century still life painting with crisp, colorful renderings accented with touches of mystery, trompe l’oeil, whimsy, and/ or surrealism.|6| Through March 19. AND: An Art Voyage through Zion, featuring works from the permanent collection depicting Zion National Park.|7| Through March 19.

Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery UP: Art and Design Faculty Exhibit, with work from eleven full-time and several adjunct faculty of SUU using a variety of media including painting, drawing, printmaking, digital imagery, ceramics, photography, and illustration.
