Kimball Art Center UP: Curtis Olson: New Works. Olson's artwork is a reflection of his interest in the land and buildings of the isolated splendor of the western landscape. His abstracted landscapes, composed around the classical proportioning system of the golden section, create a distinct feeling of place with the colors, textures and photography working together to create work at once vibrant and nostalgic.|0| In the Badami Gallery through January 11, 2012. AND: Kent Budge: In Plain Sight. Kent Budge’s approach to photography brings an awareness of color and composition to everyday subject matter. His attention to otherwise forgettable scenes transports them into ones of artistic and visual interest.|1| In the Garage Gallery, Through January 11, 2012. AND: Park City Collects presents the stories behind signature pieces in the collections of various art aficionados from the Park City community. The artwork on view is as eclectic and engaging as the reasons for collecting it.

Meyer Gallery UP: Seth Winegar
One-Man Show, featuring
20 new paintings.|2| Seth Winegar creates landscapes that deconstruct the scene into primary shapes, forms, and colors and then reinvents them with a clear, uncluttered vision. He layers oil, sands it off, and layers again creating a subtle foundation which is eventually glazed according to the needs of that particular piece. Through December 24. UPCOMING: Dave Newman, Jason Kowalski and Santiago Michalek. Opens Friday, December 30th during the Park City Gallery Stroll.
JGO Gallery UP: The new gallery's first annual Massively SMALL
exhibit, featuring work by J GO Gallery artists and a select group of invited artists, distilled down to less than 15” in any direction.|3| Enjoy James Georgopoulos' pop art pistols paired with Sherri Belassen's expressive portraits. Try the abstract architectural paintings of Siddharth Parasnis, the minimalist landscapes of Paul Vincent Bernard, and the surrealist prairie imaginings of Jeremy Mangan. Through December 24.
UPCOMING: Winter Sol unveils the gallery's 2012 collection and officially launches their winter season with new work from each of their 20+ artists.|4| Opens December 23, 6-9pm. AND: First Annual Art Jewelry Trunk Show. For one week in December the gallery will turn into a giant jewelry box with special collections shipped in from all over the country.|5| Donna D'Aquino's sculptural, almost architectural plastic-dipped steel bracelet, Gayle Friedman's reclaimed vintage fur and sterling silver pendant, and Boline Strand's 18-karat gold pomegranate beaded with faceted rubies are a few of the items that will be on display.
The Sparkle trunk show will also be the debut of several new Sparkle and Bling artists. December 26th- January 1st.

Julie Nester Gallery UP: The Land, new landscape paintings by JohnMcCormick. John McCormick’s paintings are influenced by both contemporary and traditional elements of landscape painting.|6| The compositional direction of each painting is informed by geometric principles, shifting planes of light, and the artist’s interest in a synthesis of painting styles. Through December 27.
Gallery MAR UPCOMING: The Good Things,
new works by Mary Scrimgeour|7| and Ron Russon.|8| Bold colors and thick, textural paint typify both artists. Each artist paints their current obsession; Scrimgeour is presently exploring the idea of “perfect objects” and both the hunt and meaning of that journey. Russon’s interest in wildlife, from a young age, attracts him to our local fauna: moose, elk, deer, and tractor. Opens Friday, December 30th.

Western Heritage Art Museum UP: Christmas Villages, a varied assortment of holiday Christmas Villages graciously loaned by patrons of the Museum for display. Through December 17.
BRIGHAM CITY
Brigham City Museum UP: Going Places,a nationally traveling exhibition that features an assortment of sizes shapes and finishes of the automobile's precursor: the carriage. Through January 7, 2012.
LOGAN
Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art UP: New Acquisitions highlights a selection of the museum's recently acquired artwork. Through January 6, 2012. AND: Bang! Thwack! Plop! %#$&!!!
Comics: an Influence on Contemporary Art explores the intersection of comics and art with specific attention on how certain themes and stylistic forms have crossed over from the genre of comics into the world of visual art. This exhibit helps point toward a growing interdisciplinary trend in the arts that allows for a flow of ideas between media and form, creating a liberation of high art. Through August 31, 2012.
OGDEN AREA
Eccles Community Art Center UP: Paintings of Aaron Fritz and the jewelry of Madeline McDonald will be on display at the Main Gallery. Aaron Fritz paints large-scale landscape paintings with attention to surface texture and color. Color is also a design factor in Madeline McDonald’s jewelry. Madeline says she “combines her love of the west, southwest and mountains" with just a twist of sophistication and flare to meld all of these experiences into her unique style of jewelry. Through December 30. AND: Artists’ Invitational exhibit in the Carriage House Gallery featuring paintings by Kory Fluckiger, Colette Bradford, Irene Rampton and Jake Songer. Through December 30.
Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery (Weber State University) UP: Fall BFA Thesis Exhibition. Through December 17.
Gallery 25 UP: The artwork of four Northern Utah landscape painters will be on display for the month of December: Lauri Eskelson, Bonnie Frucci, Roberta Glidden, and Debra Marin (below) will show new paintings that have been inspired by their painting trips to the Canyon Country of Southern Utah as well as Northern Utah mountain valleys.
Besides the workshop outings, these painters strive to get out to paint field studies as often as they're able, and painting together has become a highlight. Through December.
