CUAC UP: Conscious Utah Awesomeness Children. Brooklyn-based artist Mariah Robertson presents an experimental arrangement of video and large scale photography specifically considered to activate the CUAC’s main and CCA cabin spaces—including interactive video and film projections, and a photo installation of a 30"x100' roll of hand processed, uncut photo paper.|0| Through February 3. AND: Mountain High, Brooklyn-based fiber artist Courtney Puckett’s craft techniques that function as a formal investigation related to the history of women challenging the rules of painting and sculpture by utilizing stereotypically feminine materials and subjects.|1| By taking discarded domestic items and combining them through weaving, stitching, wrapping, and knotting, Puckett simultaneously reveals their disparate histories and masks the function implications of others. Through February 3 in the Upper Gallery. AND: Across Process, a group exhibition by Salt Lake Photo Society,
curated by Lindsey Winkel and exhibiting artists with roots in analog photography.

Brigham Young University Museum of Art UP:Selections from the Anthony Pritzker and Pritzker Family Trusts Collection of Contemporary Art, an installation that brings together unique artworks of familiar objects. AND: Wide-Open Spaces: Capturing the Grandeur of the Southwest explores how artists developed new approaches in composition, color, and technique to capture the grandeur of the region.|3| Through March 10, 2012.AND: The Yankee Spirit: Highlights from the New Britain Museum of American Art features a Who’s Who of American painters from the 1700s to the 21st century, including: Homer, Whistler, O’Keeffe and Rockwell.|4| AND: The Weir Family, 1820-1920: Expanding the Traditions of American Art will be the first major exhibition to collectively examine paintings by Robert Walter Weir (1803-1889), John Ferguson Weir (1841-1926), and Julian Alden Weir (1851-1919). Through May 19, 2012. UPCOMING: Fleeting Impressions: Prints by James McNeill Whistler. Compared to Rembrandt by his contemporaries, American émigré artist James McNeill Whistler’s dual dedication to painting and printmaking invigorated the graphic arts movement and fundamentally influenced a generation of artists in the late nineteenth century.|5| Fleeting Impressions highlights Whistler’s accomplishments as an etcher and lithographer and features images inspired by travel in France and Germany, the working-class neighborhood of Chelsea in London, and the landmarks of Venice. Agency Randomness Chaos.An examination of the assignment of meaning to events and
circumstances using an installation of 24 speakers, each randomly
broadcasting recorded tones and sounds over which are broadcast a
series of interviews and musical compositions with live performance of

Covey Center for the Arts UP: Seeing Isaiah: An Exhibition of Metaphors on Seven Chapters of the Book of Isaiah and Other Works by Lloyd Knowles. In the Eccles Gallery. Through December 29. AND: In My Back Yard, paintings by Dave Merrill of his "back yard," Utah County.
Merrill’s work includes portraiture, but is predominately comprised of scenes from nature and various wild life. He is known for his bold brushstrokes and vivid color that capture the personality of each of his wild subjects. Through January 26.
