Author and illustrator of numerous books, unanimously awarded the Herblock Prize for editorial cartooning by a panel made up of Garry Trudeau, Jules Feiffer and John Sherffius and long-time journalist for The Salt Lake Tribune, Pat Bagley tells us:
“Cartooning was suddenly in the spotlight with the tragic murder of my Charlie Hebdo colleagues and it has certainly affected the way I view my job. While I don’t fear the kind of retribution that cartoonists in other parts of the world do, I am inspired by their courage and dedication. In short, this coming year I want my cartoons to mean something, especially if that means resisting the urge to go for a cheap laugh over something that provokes thought.”
