While the debt ceiling debate dominated the political news, another piece of legislation, important to the arts community, came to a vote last week. The Walberg Amendment, which would have cut an additional $10.6 million from the NEA on top of the proposed $20 million cut in the Interior Appropriations Funding Bill to NEA and NEH each, failed last week. Rep. Matheson voted against the amendment, however Rep. Bishop and Rep. Chaffetz both voted for it.
