Opening Reception: Friday, March 7, 6:00 PM
Kimball Art Center presents Traces, an exhibition featuring nine groundbreaking female ceramicists who use clay as a storytelling medium, exploring themes of touch, time, and history—both personal and collective. Through their diverse artistic approaches, these internationally acclaimed artists push the boundaries of ceramics as a material for social, cultural, and artistic exploration.
Artists featured include Ashwini Bhat, Jenny Hata Blumenfield, Nicki Green, Anabel Juárez, Heidi Lau, Galia Linn, Brie Ruais, Nicole Seisler, and Bari Ziperstein.
Highlights of the exhibition include:
- Agnija, Born of Fire by Ashwini Bhat, inspired by termite mounds in Southern India and their connections to worship, fire, and transformation.
- Bodily-engaged sculptures by Brie Ruais, capturing the physical relationship between humans and the earth through dynamic textures and large-scale clay formations.
This exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the traces we leave behind and the ones we carry with us—a powerful meditation on materiality, memory, and legacy.
