Salt Lake City
Feb. 26 & 27
We are offering a two-day workshop with world renown kite builders, Jose Sainz and Scott Skinner, who will help us explore the artistic and aerodynamic variations of three-stick kite construction. We will learn which are the best papers to use with these handmade kites. Ali Fujino, Seattle water-based style print artist, will lead a class and show us how to create non-traditional papers for kites.
On Friday, February 25th 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Ali Fujino, Seattle water-based style print artist, will lead a class on how to create non-traditional papers for kites.
Saturday, February 26 – 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Kite Construction and Building
On Saturday, February 26th join Scott Skinner and Jose Sainz as they teach us how to create their “three-stick magic” paper and bamboo kites. Scott and Jose will share their distinct styles when building the ‘three stick’ kites. Scott starts with the American traditional Barn Door kite and finds many variations using three straight sticks. Jose starts with a much more organic shape made simply with two curved sticks and one straight one. The possibilities for original kite design become endless!
Each participant will receive a gift from Scott’s collection of handmade/printed papers.
For the two-day workshop with Ali, Jose & Scott – $150.00. One adult with one child 12 years and older can participate for one workshop fee.
