May 19 – July 30
Sisters Cindy Kindred and Louise Strawbridge will be hosting an art exhibit of their work at the Evolutionary Healthcare Clinic from May 19 through July 2023.
Louise Strawbridge is an American artist living and working in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Louise makes collages, assemblages and artists’ books. She uses found and unconventional materials because they already have some history and can produce surprising juxtapositions and a sense of mystery. “Beauty” can seem quite varied from this vantage point and yield fresh, transforming insights. Trained in English literature, she received her MA from the University of Chicago and taught English for many years. She has worked full-time as an artist since 1996 when she lived in London until 2003, where she also worked for the Wyvern Book Bindery. She was twice selected for the juried Royal Academy Summer Exhibition there. Louise is currently represented by Stanek Gallery and Gravers Lane Gallery in Philadelphia.
Cindy Kindred resides in Salt Lake City. Her work is derivative of the Australian Aboriginal Art which she loves. Cindy’s career was in media and communications and she was the founder and owner of Vanguard Media Group, a full-service advertising agency in Salt lake City from 1994- 2011. Her hobbies include travel, reading and sewing, which she translated into her art during the Pandemic. Cindy uses embroidery stitching to create fabric art pieces that are inspired by Aboriginal Art patterns and stories. “I was surprised that most aboriginal art is acrylic paint on bark or canvas. It seems so naturally to translate to fabric and colorful thread.” This is her first art showing.
