Gary Gerber is a guitarist without a home. He has spent his life wondering through each of the styles, colors, and sounds of the guitar. “I am happiest when I am exploring, but it is a bit unsettling to be in unfamiliar territory” he says. Gerber is currently working on a Masters of Music degree at the University of Utah and loves to make music first thing in the morning. He is a member of The Salty Cricket Composers Collective (SC3), a crunchy, savory New Music ensemble that performs the works of living composers who currently reside in Utah. Their next performance, George vs. Georgette is Saturday, November 7. Click here for more info.
What hangs above your mantel?
A large print of Harry Anderson’s “The Second Coming”
If you could choose someone to paint or sculpt your portrait (living or dead) who would it be?
I would like Arlene Innmon to paint a portrait of me. Artists that have gone blind and still produce fantastic art resonate with me.
What are you reading?
I read the Book of Mormon daily. It has saved my ass, time, and time again.
This is our chance to check in with members of Utah’s art community to see what they’ve been reading, seeing, doing.
