Salt Cricket Composers Tonight

As we contemplate expanding our coverage into the performing arts, Salty Cricket Composers Collective is one of the groups in our radar to cover. We haven’t quite pulled that together yet, but we didn’t want you to miss an opportunity to hear music by this group of local composers, so here’s their press release for a performance tonight at the Rose Wagner.

“Nothing says Christmas like Green Jello. I mean Cello. I mean Green Cello! Our last Salty Cricket performance of the 2010 season will be this Monday, December 20. Subtitled “Rated PG For Language and Low Violins” this concert is going to rock with our re-imagined string quartet: two violas, two cellos, and two pieces add Mezzo-soprano. We hope you’ll join us!

(Note there won’t be an foul language in the pieces with singer)

Our amazing musicians:

Brant Bayless, Principal Viola for Utah Symphony
Leslie Richards, a DMA student in Viola at the U of U and a frequent Utah Symphony sub (she is also a Salty Cricket alumna, having performed with us in the 2009 season)
Walter Haman, Utah Symphony cellist
Kevin Shumway, Utah Symphony cellist

GREEN CELLO: Rated PG for Language & Low Violins

A long time ago, in a key far, far removed, the Salty Cricket Composers Collective emerged. Fast forward to 2010 when we bring you a wild evening of works for two violas, two cellos +/- voice. We’re taking the string quartet to an entirely new dimension. Performers are members of the Utah Symphony.
