Salt Lake City
Nov. 17 – Dec. 31
Reception: Friday, Nov. 17 from 6-9pm.
Mother Wound consists of 14 aerial landscape photographs taken from 1400 feet above. The project is a series of birds-eye views of western landscapes marred by mineral extraction, mining waste, and severe drought conditions throughout parts of the Interior West — dispatches from the climate crisis.
Mother Wound consists of selections made from a series of assignments Daniels has taken over the last 2 years done in collaborations with High Country News, Mother Jones and Propublica with funding from The Water Desk. Aerial support from Light Hawk and Eco Flight.
Starting Nov 1st Mother Wound went on display with 14 4×6 feet large format prints along Broadway in downtown Salt Lake City. This public art exhibition is in partnership with Craft Lake City’s Celebration of the Hand and made possible with support from The Center for the Living City and The Temporary Museum of Permanent Change. The outdoor prints are located on the north and south sides of Broadway (300 South) between 200 West and Main Street.
As part of this project launch, on Friday Nov 17th at Essential Photo Supply Daniels will be releasing Mother Wound zine along with an exhibition of the same work in conjunction with the SLC 3rd Friday gallery stroll. The exhibition will be up until the end of December at the store —
