Pythagoras among the Cattails

Dan Gerhart’s 2003 sculpture, featuring a bronze sphere atop a stainless steel pole and named for the 6th-century Greek, rises up out of the cattails near the Pioneer Precinct police station. A lot is attributed to Pythagoras — in the fields of mathematics, astronomy, philosophy — but it may be his idea of the transmigration of souls that most attracts those brought into the station.

With our In Plain Site byline we feature publicly viewable art, both official and street art, throughout the state of Utah.
