In conjunction with the 59th annual conference of the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA), the Mary Elizabeth Dee Shaw Gallery presents Permanence of Earth: Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture. This group exhibition showcases the innovative work of ten American artists who push the boundaries of ceramic art: Eugene Ofori Agyei, Natalia Arbelaez, Andrea Keys Connell, Salvador Jimenez-Flores, Courtney Mattison, Matt Mitros, Jessica Sanders, Lydia Thompson, Erin Furimsky, and Linda Lopez.
As part of NCECA’s Formation theme, this exhibition invites viewers to reflect on the historical, cultural, and material significance of ceramics as an enduring art form. Each artist contributes a unique perspective to the medium, exploring themes of identity, environment, and transformation.
