Caffe’ Molise: Hidden Jewel of Fine Art & Italian Cuisine

By Steve Coray on October 10, 2002 • ( Leave a comment )

Caffe’ Molise is a hidden jewel. Hidden, because it’s not on one of downtown’s main arteries and without a big, obnoxious sign out front. Hidden, because it is in a small space and because the owners don’t do a whole lot of advertising. A jewel, because it is […]

To Hang or Not to Hang: Letter from the Editor

By Shawn Rossiter on October 5, 2002 • ( Leave a comment )

Salt Lake City photographer Jamie Clyde had an exhibition recently. Well, sort of. Clyde’s photographs were hanging for a time at Angles Café and Gallery, which took the space at 5th West and 2nd South recently vacated by Mestizo gallery. Midway through the exhibition, however, Clyde’s works were […]

Jamie Clyde’s Christ Figures

By Shawn Rossiter on October 4, 2002 • ( Leave a comment )

Jamie Clyde’s photographs have received rough treatment lately (see here). Her photographs, which were hanging for a time in the Angles Gallery in SLC, caused a little bit of a stir when their religious content was claimed to be offensive.  When I saw Clyde’s works, after hearing of […]

Artist Resource Center at Rio Gallery

By Laura Durham on September 14, 2002 • ( Leave a comment )

It’s an ideal morning inside the Artist Resource Center — the sounds of papers turning, printers printing and the tapping of computer keys fill the room and even spill out into the Rio Gallery that shares the same space inside the historic Rio Grande Depot. While one artist […]

Julie Newland

By Steve Coray on September 8, 2002 • ( Leave a comment )

Julie Newland wears a variety of hats. To the general public, she is the Programming Coordinator at VSA Arts of Utah (Art Access). A more select crowd knows her as a fine craftsman of handmade papers who also instructs others in the art. And to Sam (pictured here […]

Lamplight Gallery

By 15 Bytes on September 7, 2002 • ( Leave a comment )

The Lamplight Art Gallery on Bountiful’s historic Main Street recently celebrated their first birthday. The gallery was the idea of Colleen Parker, a Bountiful artist, who for years maintained a studio above the retail space where the gallery is now located. She wanted to create a place where […]

Layne Meacham: You Like What You Know at Artspace Forum

By Shawn Rossiter on September 5, 2002 • ( Leave a comment )
