North Summit Unite’s Regional Roundup live artmaking event in September

North Summit Unite will be hosting an event called the “North Summit Regional Roundup” on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from noon to 4:00 pm in Coalville to highlight the city’s historical significance. The event will be centered around horse-drawn wagon tours of the downtown area. The tours will make stops at various historic locations including the Library, the Senior Center, the Ledges hiking trail, the Courthouse, and a Victorian era home. Each of the venues will host an activity that brings a unique aspect of Coalville’s heritage to life. As part of the event, North Summit Unite is looking to partner with a local creative individual/team to lead an interactive community art project at one of the tour stops.

Honorarium: $1500 + supply budget up to $500

Deadline: Proposals will be accepted via email through August 15, 2022 5 PM Mountain Time. Responses must be received by the deadline date. Questions: Questions concerning the project should be directed to Interactive Community Art Project: North Summit Unite is looking to commission a local artist and/or creative individual or team to assist with the creation of a community art project. The objective is to create a piece of community art that can be displayed throughout North Summit County and potentially become part of a permanent art collection.

The overall development of the project vision and the management of its completion will be the responsibility of the individual/ team selected.

Basic project parameters include:

• Creation of a large textural sculpture or wall hanging, that is interactively crafted by community members on the day of the North Summit Regional Roundup o Initial vision is to use a “chicken-wire-type” base, where community members weave in ribbons or other materials to create an image that reflects the North Summit community/way of life o Other ideas for project media will also be considered
