marc t. wise alters objects discarded from industrial operations. Through repurposing and re-presenting familiar materials, the artist explores the problematics of certainty and questions the definitions of function and utility, as well as uselessness. On display will be a series of sculptures reflecting the transformation from raw material to functional object, to something else entirely.
wise’s work has been seen in galleries and project spaces throughout the United States. He holds a M.A. from the University of California Davis and a M.F.A. from the School of The Art Institute of Chicago.
