Luke Anderson

Luke Anderson (born 1993, Cheyenne, WY) is a landscape painter and mixed media artist working out of Salt Lake City, Utah. Luke’s surfaces incorporate elements of abstraction and graphic design into the more traditional painterly styles more often associated with western and landscape painting. Iconic subject matter ranging from mountains to deserts to clouds and sunsets are often reduced down to flattened abstract 2-dimensional shapes. Drawing inspiration from early 20th century modernist painting as well as more contemporary tonalist and minimalist abstract painting, Luke’s canvases feature jagged shapes and harsh edges and soft, neutral color palettes with a subtle antique quality. Strong senses of spatial depth and atmospheric perspective are common visual themes. His work has been exhibited at prominent regional art institutions, including the Nicolaysen Art Museum in Casper, Wyoming, the Old West Museum in Cheyenne, Wyoming, the Springville Museum of Art in Springville, Utah, the Coors Western Art Show in Denver, Colorado, the Sears Art Museum at Utah Tech University, and the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana. His paintings have been featured in the pages of Western Art Collector magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, Western Art and Architecture magazine, and Big Sky Journal.
