St. George
December 6, 2024 – March 8, 2025
The St. George Art Museum presents Lines in the Sky by Ryan Nord Kitchen, an exploration of the natural landscape through the lens of abstraction and representation. Ryan Nord Kitchen’s work exists at the intersection of memory and gesture, where brushstrokes become both descriptive imagery and pure abstraction. His paintings evoke a lexicon of landscapes—moonlit gardens, sunlit pathways, and river views—while challenging viewers to reexamine their assumptions about representation. Each piece serves as both a homage to the natural world and an abstract exploration of the visual language that defines our perception of it.
The paint on Kitchen’s canvases captures both the essence of the physical landscape and the ephemeral quality of memory, blending vistas once-seen with the artist’s personal impressions. The result is a unique and reflective interpretation of the American landscape.
