Smith comes to the Kimball from Clark Planetarium, where since 2012 she was Associate Director and oversaw the Planetarium’s Marketing and Development, Operations, and Education Departments. She began her career in the finance industry, working for both Zions Bank and Fidelity Investments, before moving on to the nonprofit sector at Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum. In 2006, she moved to the nonprofit sector as the Director of Communications for Junior Achievement of Utah before moving on to Discovery Gateway Children’s Museum.
About her new role, Smith said, “I am thrilled to join the Kimball Art Center. I look forward to working with the staff and board to continue the legacy of excellence of this dynamic organization. With a rich history, the KAC plays a unique and profound role in the arts. The classes inspire artists young and old, the annual Kimball Arts Festival brings together artists and the community for an incredible celebration of art, and the Center offers spectacular exhibits that enrich the cultural fabric of Park City and beyond.”
Maggie AbuHaidar, Kimball Art Center Board Chair, said Smith’s “accomplishments in the nonprofit world and her local Utah connections” are exactly what the Kimball needs to grow while remaining to their mission.
Smith’s first day will be Monday, July 10, 2017.
