The Lab @ The Leonardo is a multi-use space: it hosts impromptu as well as formal art workshops for the museum’s visitors; and since each month a new artist moves their studio into the space and creates work on site, allowing visitors to watch an artist work in their natural habitat, it is also gallery and studio for the Lab’s resident artists.
Liberty Blake knows both aspects of the space. As one of what are affectionately referred to as the “Lab Rats,” she runs collage workshops in the space on a regular basis. This month, though, Blake is also occupying the studio, bringing her scissors, rabbit skin glue and stacks of cut paper to create her delicately-balanced abstract collages full of shifting tensions. She’s also working on a collaborative project as part of 15 Bytes’ Utah Arts Festival CollaborART Event
UTAH’S ART MAGAZINE SINCE 2001, 15 Bytes is published by Artists of Utah, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
