Lauren Gallaspy receives Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant

lauren-photo1Lauren Gallaspy, who joined the Art & Art History Department Ceramics Area at the University of Utah this year, is one of twenty-five artists across the country who has been awarded a Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant. The prestigious award comes with a $25,000 cash award.

Gallaspy received her BFA in ceramics at the University of Georgia and her MFA from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. She creates both   sculptural and functional ceramics, as well as drawings and paintings. You can see her work at laurengallaspy.com. She lives in the Sugarhouse area of Salt Lake City with husband Andy Nasisse, also a noted ceramacist. cityhomeCOLLECTIVE caught up with the two artists in late 2012 and posted an interview on their blog here.
