Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art
Holding Space highlights historical and contemporary ceramics from the Nora Eccles Harrison Museum of Art (NEHMA) collection, emphasizing the vessel as both form and metaphor. This exhibition reflects NEHMA’s deep commitment to ceramics, inspired by founder Nora Eccles Harrison, whose background as a functional potter led her to champion vessel forms in her collecting practice.
The exhibition showcases works by 66 artists, including notable names such as John Neely, David Furman, Maria Martinez, Dirk Staschke, and Patti Warashina. Additionally, Holding Space introduces pieces from a recent gift by the estate of collector Arthur J. Williams, featuring artists such as Ann Currier, Sylvia Hyman, Tony Marsh, and Brad Schwieger, enriching the museum’s already expansive ceramics collection of over 1,300 works.
