The Salt Lake Art Center has announced that its Executive Director, Heather Ferrell, will resign effective December 4th. Farrell joined the Art Center in the summer of 2008, filling the position left vacant when longtime director Ric Collier retired (see our profile of her in the December 2008 edition).
During her time as Executive Director Ferrell has maintained a long-distance relationship with her fiance. He has since accepted a job in Qatar and Ferrell has decided to join him in the Middle East.
Ferrell’s departure comes at a time when the Art Center is already understaffed. The position of curator and assistant director are both vacant. Adam Price, President of the Art Center’s Board of Trustess, says an Interim Director will soon be appointed and a committee formed to find a replacement for Ferrell.
