Kristy1Kristy K. Bartley Textile Artist Statement:

There are many choices of yarn in today’s market. I prefer using natural animal fibers such as wool, silk, alpaca, or cashmere. I also use cellulose fibers such as Sea Cell (made from seaweed), rayon and tencel that have a lovely drape and take color differently. Many of my designs mix yarns of different fibers and textures and I like to play with combining stitch patterns, both historical and modern. I make my shawls larger to accommodate draping them over one shoulder and so that they can be used as throws if one wishes.

(Kristy’s work will include scarves and shawls)

Susannah-3-Susannah Ravenwing Metal Smith Artist Statement:

I am inspired by Ancient, Art Nouveau, and Arts and Crafts jewelry to create works that speak of myth, legend and our sacred relationship with nature. I find myself drawn to unusual gems often having intriguing patterns of play-of-light. I work in fine silver, sterling silver, 14K, 18K gold. I also occasionally work in bronze.

Mine is a constructive process of fabrication, with components cut from sheet and wire that I forge, form and assemble by hard soldering with an oxy-acetylene torch. The metal may be textured using roll-printing, embossing, chasing or given relief through repoussé.

My goal is to create intimate personal artwork that is engaging and evocative, tactilely and visual satisfying. Each of my works is unique and one -of-a-kind.

(Susannah’s work will include necklaces, pendants, cuffs, brooches, earrings, and wearable sculpture.)
