If you attend the Utah Symphony Saturday night for the final symphony in Thierry Fischer’s season-long Beethoven Cycle (since Fischer is performing them backwards it’s actually Beethoven’s first symphony), you’ll also catch the final performance of violinist Frances Darger.
Now 87, Darger has been with the orchestra for the past seventy years, and will hang up her bow after Saturday’s performance. To our readers Darger’s name may ring a bell, if not for her longevity at Abravanel Hall then from the profile of her Laura Durham wrote in the March edition of 15 Bytes.
You can get your tickets to the symphony AND support Utah’s Art Magazine by making a $150 contribution to 15 Bytes (see our Spring Fundraiser for details) or visit utahsymphony.org to purchase tickets.
UTAH’S ART MAGAZINE SINCE 2001, 15 Bytes is published by Artists of Utah, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
