Claire Åkebrand

Claire Åkebrand is a self-taught artist from Sweden. She grew up in Germany and now lives in Utah. After studying creative writing at BYU and the University of Utah, she published a novel and a poetry collection. She began painting in 2018, an interest that quickly turned into an all-consuming passion. Klee’s eccentric geometries, Utah’s blue and tan tones, and mid-century graphic design are some of her main inspirations. She mostly works with acrylic. She has had work exhibited in Utah and sells most of her paintings through the Nevada-based store Former Modern.
