“Participatory Universe” is a photography project inspired by the theory of the Observer Effect, which explores the transformative power of observation on neglected landscapes in the American West. Using a physical black aluminum frame to encapsulate these often-overlooked spaces, the project probes how deliberate attention and framing can endow new meanings and significance, engaging both the photographer and the viewer in a contemplative reevaluation of what is deemed important or meaningful.
Alexandra Fuller is a self-taught visual artist based in the rural Utah desert. Her background in narrative and documentary filmmaking with photography and installation art explores themes of resilience and transformation in people and places on the edge, often incorporating elements of coincidence, damage, and imperfection. Fuller’s films have been recognized at Sundance and SXSW, and are exhibited widely, including upcoming shows at the Southern Utah Museum of Art.
